So, what do Evacuees do?

You head to Sea World!!

Watch Shamu!!
Act silly with Mommy on the Paint Cans!
Take a ride with Daddy...
Climb!Pet a dolphin!

Walk on a balance beam!

Hang out with your Daddy
Watch a walrus do sit ups. Really he did! I couldn't get my camera out fast enough. Jeff and I laughed out loud!

Pose for a picture with Daddy!!
Take a nap!
Swim with Grandma!

Pick up limbs with Grandad!
Wash the 4-wheeler. (Grandad.. have you heard about child labor laws :)?)

Rock your bear in your very own hot pink rocking chair!
Take in story time at the Buda public library! Color your very own apple.

Read books!
And if all else fails there is always retail therapy for those distressed evacuees! Nothing a couple new pair of pjs can't fix!! And for those that are wondering... even our 4 legged evacuees are enjoying themselves quite a bit!!

Stay tuned for the next report from our Hurrication as Haley would say!! We are going to Hunter's football game tonight and who knows what we will find to do tomorrow!! We are out of school all week and Daddy headed home to clean up our yard so we are partying in Buda this week!!

IKE SUCKS!!!

Our Hurricane IKE story............ (so far!!)
We stayed through the night but got out of there as soon as it was "safe" enough ...around noon today. It was still windy and raining but we headed west as fast as we could and prayed we could get to Austin. We made it and it's HOT and SUNNY here! The girls are out swimming with Grandma and Grandad as we speak!! Let's just say we will never make that mistake again. It's just not worth it when I could have been here in AIR CONDITIONING and food and could have slept through the night. Instead, Chip and Candace came over and we played a game with them until around 10. We headed to bed around 11 and I was up at midnight as the branches from the shrubs were beating on our windows. I checked the radar and went back to bed but was up again at 2 until around 6. We moved to the front of the house away from the trees, which turned out to be a smart move (see below). The girls woke up during the move to a new room but Kaiden would have slept through the whole thing if she hadn't woke up coughing. Right after we fell asleep I heard a crash and was so tired I just went back to sleep. I knew something wasn't good when Jeff joined us in the "safe room" and slept on the floor. Those of you who know Jeff knows that man is all about comfort. That's how scary it was in the back of our house! We woke up around 8 and this is what we found. Jeff knew what had happened but decided to let me get a few minutes of sleep....................

Yes, that's our backyard. Or what's left of it!! We have 2 trees left, the tiny one on the right hand side of the picture and one in the very left hand corner. (That is if they are still standing.) Jeff's shed held up but the top of a pine tree landed directly on top!!
This is the back of our house by our bedroom.
Same area!
This is the shrub that is by our kitchen window. (there shouldn't be any trees in this picture!)
Here is another shot of the kitchen side of the house!
The water was rising as well and that's when we said now is our chance to get out. We were VERY cautious I promise. We knew that we might have to turn back but we went for it and I am so glad to be out of there!!

Jeff and I will probably head back either tomorrow or Monday depending on what the news reports are but the girls have reservations at G'ma's and G'dad's until we have electricity and our backyard cleaned up!!

IKE carumba!

It's really coming now... it seems like we've been waiting forever. Here is the latest...

"I've got Roscoe and I'm ready when you are!!" said Kaiden!
"Hurricane? What hurricane?" asked Kenedi
I'm so glad Grandma cleaned my closet! Now we can play!!

Snoozin' in Mommy and Daddy's bed for the night. Slumber party!!Sweet Kaiden Jane!!
Cutie Pie Kenedi!!

We'll update again when we can!!

yIKEs It's coming!

This guy is standing on the seawall in Galveston. The beach we should be playing on SHOULD be in front of him! It's still over 12 hours away from making landfall. Here is a cool picture. It takes up almost all of the gulf. It's HUGE!!
But once again The Medford's are ready!! The girls heard us talking about losing power and went in and found their Little House on the Prairie hats.

Kenedi's not so sure she's up for roughing it!!
Little Red Riding Hood made an appearance today as well!!

The preparations continue. Jeff is at Kroger again getting batteries for the radios and Benadryl because Kenedi woke up crouping AGAIN this morning and Kaiden has a runny nose too!! Good times!! We'll keep you updated!!

Change of Plans.....

We were supposed to be heading to Galveston tomorrow afternoon for our yearly beach trip!!

Ike had different plans :) See the red part? Yeah we live in the middle of it :)Well as Ike moves in on us, we spent the afternoon preparing for his arrival!
Here's Kenedi making sure none of her sandbox toys injure any unsuspecting individual!
Kaiden's helping too!!
I told Jeff to stop by Kroger on the way home for a few extra things. Here's what he came home with. I hope power doesn't stay out long because we will either be drunk or in a sugar induced coma. I don't even have the HUGE bowl of Halloween candy he bought out!! Bring it on IKE we are soooooooo prepared!! ( I will have to say I understand his reasoning for beer and wine... If we are without power for an extended period of time with 2 two and a half year olds we might, just might need that!!!!)
While Jeff and the girls prepared the yard I cleaned out and organized our pantry. Thank goodness I got that done before the storm I'm not sure what we would have done...
We decided to break out the board games to get a head start in case we are playing by candle light in 48 hours.
Kaiden kicked everyone's butts!! BIG TIME!!Everyone enjoying their celebratory candy after a game. See... Ike doesn't scare us we have Halloween candy!
I never won but I loved every minute of it!!PS For those of you that know Jeff and I so well I just wanted to add that I beat him every time :) Oh yeah baby!!
